Kauai Coffee Company

thumb_kauai_peaberryKauai Coffee Company began in the early 1800s as McBryde Sugar Company, one of the first sugar growers in Hawaii. The transformation from McBryde to Kauai Coffee Company in 1987 was Hawaii’s largest diversified agricultural project in the past 50 years!

That was the year the first coffee trees were planted. In 1992, Hurricane Iniki inflicted $8.5 million in damages to the coffee crop. The future of Kauai Coffee, and indeed all Kauai, looked bleak.

In 1995, the decision was made to phase out sugar at McBryde, but to continue the coffee operation. That was a wise decision. The following year, in 1996, for the first time ever, the Kauai coffee harvest exceeded the volume produced by the entire Big Island Kona region! And, as they say, since then the rest is history!Molokai_blend_215x285

Coffees of Hawaii

Coffees of Hawaii was established in the 1980’s when a group of local businessmen set out to look for an ideal location to grow high quality Arabica Beans in Hawaii. After a few years of research throughout the Hawaiian Islands, Kualapu’u, Moloka’i was chosen as the best location.

The Plantation was further developed, which later became the source of the seeds. The soil was reclaimed and miles of irrigation lines were installed.  In 1993, the first commercial harvest was accomplished and the branding of Muleskinner (a natural dry), Malulani (a washed Arabica), and Molokai Island Princess (vanilla infused) was established.

Diamond Bakery

Three very close friends shared a dream of someday opening a bakery of their own. The dream quickly became a reality. They opened their bakery in 1921 and named it Diamond Bakery.

Sixteen years after the opening of the bakery, Diamond Bakery mastered its ability to bake crackers and cookies that met its quality standards. Cookies were also introduced and included Ruff ‘n Ready (similar to a shortbread cookie), Coconut, Candy Bead, Coconut Taffy and Animal, all of which are still with us today.
